PGA Championship: How to bet Tiger Woods at Valhalla

Tiger Woods is back this week for the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, and if you're interested in getting some action down on the golf legend, we've got you covered with a couple of creative bets. We normally like betting Woods to make the cut or play well early in the week, but we're fully fading him this week on a long, wet golf course and rain in the forecast. 

Here's how we're betting Tiger at Valhalla.  

Parlay: 72-hole matchups — Kurt Kitayama > Tiger Woods + Bryson DeChambeau > Cameron Smith (+140 FanDuel)

The best way to fade Woods nowadays is with a 72-hole matchup. The oft-injured 48-year-old breaks down as the tournament goes on, and he's always a threat to withdraw if he's struggling to move around the golf course.

The only 72-hole matchup available on FanDuel is against Kurt Kitayama, who's actually a great fit for this golf course as a long hitter and great iron player. Kitayama has gained strokes off the tee and on approach in five straight starts, and he finished T4 at last year's PGA Championship on a similar golf course. His -250 price to beat Woods is too steep, so we're parlaying it with Bryson DeChambeau to beat Cameron Smith.

DeChambeau is a perfect fit for Valhalla due to his advantages off the tee and on the greens, while Smith is a short, erratic driver who gains most of his strokes with his short game. Valhalla isn't a tough chipping or putting test for these players, so Smith's strengths will be mitigated. 

Tiger Woods under 3.5 birdies or better in Round 1 (-120 FD)

Valhalla is going to give up a ton of birdies this week because of how soft the greens are going to be, but Woods will likely struggle to rack up birdies on this 7,609-yard track. Six of the 11 par 4s measure longer than 470 yards, and the four par 3s average 215.8 yards long. The three par 5s are gettable, but they all measure close to 600 yards, so Woods likely won't be able to hit the greens in two. 

Tiger recorded more than three birdies only once in four rounds at Augusta National, and this is going to be a much tougher golf course for him.
