New York Jets Receive Great Grade After 2024 NFL Draft
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Jets had a very solid weekend, as they received some high draft grades from Pro Football Focus.

Coming into the 2024 NFL Draft, a lot of eyes were on New York. The Jets were a team that came into the 2023 season with a lot of expectations after the trade that brought Aaron Rodgers to New York from the Green Bay Packers.

However, with a lot of key injuries, including the one to Rodgers, the Jets struggled. For a majority of the season with Zach Wilson back at quarterback, their offense looked like one of the worst in the league.

Coming into the draft, there was a lot of speculation that the Jets were going to be focused on the offensive side of the ball. As the draft came and went, that was where general manager Joe Douglas focused, as they drafted five offensive players.

In the first round, the Jets decided to help bolster their offensive line with the selection of offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu from Penn State. Without a second-round selection because of the Rodgers deal, the Jets’ next pick was in the third round. With that pick, the Jets selected wide receiver Malachi Corley from Western Kentucky.

After some moving around in the mid-rounds, the Jets ended up taking three more offensive players in the fourth and fifth rounds, as they selected running back Braelon Allen from Wisconsin, quarterback Jordan Travis from Florida State, and running back Isaiah Davis from South Dakota State.

With their final two picks, the Jets did add some depth for their secondary, as they took cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers from the CFL and safety Jaylen Key from Alabama.

Overall, it was a really solid draft for the Jets, as they addressed some issues on the offense on the line and at wide receiver. Pro Football Focus gave them a grade of an “A” and that certainly feels deserving. Now, we will wait to see if the picks turn out to be contributors to the Jets in 2024 and beyond.
