'Didn’t feel sorry for ourselves,' Sheldon Keefe talks about Leafs’ Game 5 mindset following team’s 2-1 win over Bruins
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe talked about the team’s mindset in Game 5 following their stellar performance in a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins. Keefe added that the team approached Game 5 with “ aggression, the assertiveness” from the start to pace the momentum.

While the Bruins missed the chance to lead with their 3- 1 score, the Leafs got a golden opportunity to play Game 6 and hopefully drag it to Game 7 for a playoff chance in the final rounds. Sheldon Keefe said they tried to take charge from the get-go to “mail it in” with a win.

He expressed how “we didn’t feel sorry for ourselves” and gave it all. The Leafs are currently trying to avoid elimination, as the Bruins will be traveling to Toronto for Game 6 of the best-of-seven series on Thursday.

As difficult as this one was here tonight, the next one is going to be even harder. No matter where the game is played. Sheldon Keefe as per Scotty White of Clutch Points.

Brad Marchand gets tackled by officials over brawl in Game 5 against Leafs

Boston Bruins is consecutively one of the top teams to make it into the Stanley Cup playoffs often. This time too they’ve been playing hard from the start and have pulled ahead of their competitors the Leafs by a 3-2 score.

Game 6 will be crucial for both teams as the Bruins plan to advance to the next round while the Leafs will struggle for another chance on the ice. Amidst the heated battle, Bruins captain Brad Marchand once again took the spotlight following a brawl with the Leafs, especially involving forward Pontus Holmberg.

During the end of the third period, the Bruins and Maple Leafs got into a tussle and undoubtedly, Marchand was at the heart of the action. However, before Marchand could even have his go at Holmberg, the on-ice official tackled the captain down on the cold floor.

Brad Marchand was visibly upset over the incident, specifically after the official gave him a roughing penalty for the chaos. He’s been a thorn in the Leafs’ side since the playoffs started. The Leafs won the game in OT and are now looking forward to their visiting opponent on Thursday to try and get the game going on till Game 7.
